Artist's Statement:

Each piece of artwork is intended as a visual prayer that becomes an icon for the viewer to integrate into their prayers. I hope to use my artwork as a tool to share my love for and praise of the Lord Jesus Christ and my hope in eternal life. I aim to incorporate the scriptures in my artwork as a pictorial element or as a prayerful dialogue. I believe making art is an act of prayer.

I am in love with color and form. I get attracted to the way a certain natural curve (of a botanical for example) untouched and unnoticed by the bustle of the world around it. I long to capture that quiet beauty found in nature. The organic form as redefined by American artist Georgia O`Keefe, specifically her ability to depict biomorphic forms with an abstract beauty, plays a significant influence on my work. Nature inspires in me a sense of awe, wonder, and fear as I am drawn into its mystery, power, and depth, light and darkness. Nature and the universe are constant reminders to me of life and death; the impermanence of a cloud, a flower, a star, a wave and of our existence. Art material themselves can also influence conception. I`m enticed by the tactile quality an oil pastel as well as the lucidity and transparency of watercolors. It is a pleasure to solely explore technique and use it to its full capacity.
