Artist's Statement:
My work deals with the ever-changing nature of shadow, particularly those cast from contemporary sculptures within the city of Houston. I begin by duplicating the shadow itself in drawings, and then in paintings. Although my methods during the painting stage are mostly intuitive, I eventually arrive at a three-dimensional painted form based on the various positions that the shadow acquires on any given day. The regeneration of the shadow into that of a new sculptural, voluminous form is to me, very compelling.
