Artist's Statement:
My process is open, exploratory and abreactive. It comes from a perspective of ethos and spirituality. It aims to communicate an independent and original voice by producing a hybrid form of art which questions the arbitrariness of imposed parameters and paradigms, including the technical division of the arts and conventional models of representation.
I approach my work as in an excavation of memory, culture and identity; going within myself to mine material traces of fragmentary histories of the individual, ultimately leading to the collective subconscious and the universal. The art I make is an integral art that fuses together different disciplines, materials and methodologies while layering meanings, resonating liminal evocations and rejecting formal limitations. Through the use of mixed media; primarily printmaking techniques, palimpsest, mimesis, bricollage, photographed shadow performances and found objects I try to recombine elements into new stratigraphies, that offer fresh insights or different perceptions of reality.
In its alterity, my work manifests culture and conflicting coexisting realities and reflects the changing circumstances that surround us; including sociopolitical, spiritual and economic aspects.
