Artist's Statement:
My art is all about the materials used. Ordinary stuff, found objects, recycled items are the kinds of things with which I enjoy working. If I can include movement, light, shadow, so much the better; for I feel these elements can add much interest.
What drives my passion for expression in this way? The answers are only partly known to me. Perhaps it is an extension of my attempts to break away from traditional expectations in other parts of my life. Another reason is that I do take great pleasure in attempting to ?make something out of nothing?--or more accurately put, to point out the beauty in the ordinary--the accidental.
At the end of the day, I can say after many years of consciously and unconsciously searching; I have found the thing I love to do and am grateful and delighted!
Artist's Bio:
Born in Detroit, Michigan, my first foray into art took the form of enrollment in the Interior Design school at Michigan State University. Following some discouragement, I changed course and began to study Speech Pathology. This culminated in a masters? degree from Vanderbilt University followed by six years working in this field. Years later the urge to express myself artistically resurfaced. In 1997 I began studying art at The Glassell School, where I currently take class , with emphasis on making 3 D objects.
