Artist's Statement:
Art, for me is a conversation between the artist and the viewer, but before a conversation or discussion can take place, certain elements must be qualified or recognized as universal for all of those involved. The meaning of a word or phrase must be the same for all of those taking part. Otherwise, the effort is useless and each will find themselves discussing topics and subjects, which convey a different meaning or understanding. There might be only one universal truth, but there are as many interpretations and perceptions as there are people. As an artist, I am trying to provide a stimulus through my art to begin a discussion, to contemplate certain aspects of life and death, good and evil. How the discussion ends or what final decisions are made, is up to the hearer.
Regardless if one accepts a religious explanation, whether it?s from a Hindu perspective or a Taoist or Buddhist, or the Jewish, Christian, Muslim creation with Adam and Eve, (which if you are a male can be highly advantageous in certain societies) or even a strict evolutionist viewpoint without any divine intervention, there is one common point to begin the discussion with, and that, is that none of the views expressed can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Of all that mankind does, the act of creating something from nothing (i.e. imagination), perhaps most accurately mirrors our own creation. Life contains elements, which are beyond the mere mundane functions of our physical existence, elements that are sometimes overlooked or ignored. However, before we can begin to find any answers, we must first understand the question.
