Artist's Statement:
My painting began in oils and focused on expressionism and organic forms. As I moved into abstraction and was building my studio in the First Ward, I composed a series of works on vellum and Mylar using liquid monoprinting techniques. During this series, I embraced the concept of process painting in lieu of form and subject. A second series of work focused on acrylics and geometry in conjunction with words describing movements. Recently, I focused on a synthesis of techniques. I am intrigued by the dichotomy of combining both transparent and opaque surfaces into the same paintings with a abstracted narrative of forms and also have collaborated to make 3-D Mylar sculptures. Process and color are the true forces in all of my artwork.
Artist's Bio:
I have been painting for 15 years. I had a 6 person group show in April of 2006 called 3 Plus 3. I was selected by the Lawndale Art Center and Dominic Walsh for a artist collaborative installation with the theatre setting of E-merging in October 2006. I am the vice president of Inner Corridor Open Studio and Founder of Art Chatter. Inner Art Corridor features open studio tours of artists in First and Sixth Wards. Art Chatter is a collective of advanced artists meeting in both Spring and Fall to self critique and also hire visiting guest critics. Art Chatter has it\'s first group show in January of 2008 that will be at the Jung Center in the Museum District.
