Artist's Statement:
The distinction between art and life for me is a faint line and just as oxygen and sustenance are essential for survival, so too are art and creation essential for existence. It is this philosophy that is my morning impetus, the Duende or use which compels me to be productive and creative whenever I can afford to be, and even when I can't.
My work reveals a primary concern with the creative process - the observation, the ingestion, the internalization, and finally, the reinterpretation of images and ideas. I employ collage, found objects,
Xeroxed images and poetry as stylistic devices which reflect the environments I've come into contact with. It is a means of delineating my experiences and therefore confirming my existence, a verification of the self. I often work within a book or binded format that emphasizes my interest in making creation a daily or diary activity.
Prominent themes in my work are technology, capitalism, plastic culture and the intermingling of Western Pop and American Death cultures. Influences include cinema, Abstract Expressionist, Pop and Graffiti Art.
