Cara Barer

Houston, TX

Artist's Bio:

I was born in Freeport, Texas, and have lived all but one year of my life here in Texas. The last 24, have been in Houston. I do traditional printmaking, and painting, but lately have turned my interest to photography.

The images representing my work in this registry deal with transmigration of the soul. One of the gowns, in particular have a special meaning - it is a remnant of someone who has passed away. "Where is Elizabeth," is a story of the transition from one body, to another body, or form, yet to be known.

Since none of us truly know what to expect in our next life, I like to create a sense of mystery, and portentousness in my images on this subject. I am not finished delving into these ideas, and plan to continue working on this subject, for the near future.
