Spring is in the air and the art when the Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park unfolds Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30, 10 am to 6 pm Nestled amidst the towering Texas pines, the Festival’s more than 300 visual and performing artists – from around the corner and around the world – will transform the park’s meandering trails into an outdoor art gallery blooming with juried art and multi-cultural music and dance. Creative Zone assistants work with Lawndale and other participating non-profit partners presenting art activities for children and their families. This year we are making spring landscape dioramas, while other activities include wire animals, masks, and wax hands.

Festival staffing positions interact actively with festival guests and are the face of the festival greeting and guiding patrons as needed. Jobs include volunteer check-in, ticket takers, greeters, information booth and transportation guides.

Artist hospitality positions include working in the Artist Hospitality tent and roaming the festival offering artist relations assistance through out the festival. These volunteers also serve as the “eyes and ears” of the festival, noting any problems that may arise in their assigned areas. Volunteers may also be assigned to the Patron Art Pick-up Booth where artists drop-off purchased work to be picked-up by patrons at the end of the day.

Any of the above!

Once Lawndale has received your volunteer sign-up form, we’ll forward you the festival’s registration form and volunteer instructions. While every effort will be made to honor your assignment request, the Art Colony Association reserves the right to adjust volunteer assignments based on need at the time of festival check-in.
